No. Everything happens in writing: your first message, the demo link, the quote, and every update.
What should I put in the message?
What the thing should do and who it's for. A link to a site you like, or to the one you have now, helps. You don't need a spec.
How fast do I see something?
The demo comes first, built for your job, so you can judge the work before you decide anything.
How much does it cost?
That comes from Shane, in writing, after you've seen the demo. We don't publish prices because no two jobs are the same size.
